I’m ANGRRRRRRRRRYYYYYYYYY!!!!
If I have to read ONE MORE story about Judge Vaughn Walker’s decision about Prop 8 being considered for invalidity, I will fucking snap. Yes. I cursed. And I could say a lot more. I’m generally a nice person. I have my moments, but you press my buttons enough, and I’ll show an uglier, not-so-nice side of myself.
Judge Walker has become a target because since he retired from the bench, because he came out. He’s gay. SO WHAT? But, the Pro Proposition 8 people are screaming from the roof tops that this means he couldn’t ever be objective or ethical in his decision to not enforce Prop 8 last year.
Aside from the asinine arguments these people made during the trial, which you’re free to peruse at your own leisure here, they’re now saying that his sexuality interfered with their ability to have a fair trial. (Not the fact that he is gay, but that his same sex relationship stands to gain from the now existing judgement Walker made.)
REALLY?? And removing human rights from a population of people that aren’t like you is fair? REAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYY????
Maybe we shouldn’t take his judgement cause he’s an older white male too. Cause he’s got grey hair and a sexy voice. Cause he’s a judge who was appointed by the godfather of the modern Republican movement, Former President George H. W. Bush.
If Judge Walker’s judgement is so inexplicably unmoral and unjust, just because he’s gay, and it nullifies his judgement, then we need to open up the whole can of worms.
Women shouldn’t have the right to judge abortion cases. They probably shouldn’t judge custody cases either, especially if they’ve got children.
Straight people shouldn’t judge divorce cases, particularly if they’re married.
Caucasian people should not judge another race. African American judges shouldn’t rule in other race cases either. Any judge shouldn’t rule outside of their own race. There’s bias after all.
Men can’t rule cases where women are involved. And women shouldn’t rule in male cases.
Judges can’t rule if their family members have committed similar crimes or gone through similar legal situations.
We shouldn’t even have judges. They very obviously (apparently) have no ability to be objective. They can’t see past their own personal situations and lifestyles.
If those who subscribe to this insanity and way of thinking succeed, I’m out of here. I can’t live on a continent that favours absolute ignorance, hatred and stupidity to be the ruling norm. I just can’t.
